The Hornchurch Boys have done it again; winners of the Essex League Twenty/20. A 45 run win in the final over Chelmsford secured the title and the crown of Essex champions.
In the semi final, we beat Buckhurst Hill by 6 wickets after successfully chasing 128. Ronnie took 3-15 off his 4 overs whilst Adeel weighed in with 2 of his own as we restricted Hill to 127/9 off their allotted overs. In reply, Hanko led the way with 42 whilst Ronald (30) and Adeel saw us home with 9 balls to spare.
In the final, we faced Chelmsford, who had knocked out the much fancied Brentwood in the other semi final. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Muzza and Hanko got us off to a flyer with a 59 run opening stand. Muz went on to top score with 44, whilst Hanko (23), Adeel (26) and Billy (25) all weighed in with telling contributions. Sainsy finished off the innings with 2 6s as we posted 148/6.
Early wickets from Ronald and Billy saw Chelmsford 12/2 after 2 and they never really recovered. Adeel recorded unbelievable figures of 3.3-0-3-3 with Wogan taking 3 wickets as well as Chelmsford were bowled out for 103 in the penultimate over and the title was ours.
Muzza was named Man of the Match in the final and we will now fly the flag for the County in the Regional Finals, which will be held at our ground on Sunday 31st July.
